William "Spanky" Michael Owens

William “Spanky” Michael Owens, Sr., 73, of Lexington, NC, entered his heavenly home on January 7, 2021 at Novant Medical Hospital in Forsyth County.

Spanky was born on November 4, 1947 in Davie County, NC.  He was the son of the late Charles Anderson Owens and Lucille Annie Owens.  In addition to his parents, Spanky is preceded in death by a brother Charles “Butch” Owens, a grandson Winston Shelton Wishon, and a niece Teresa Doby.

In life Spanky attended Davie County Schools.  He worked in the Fiberglass industry as a 1st class operator.  Spanky worked for Celanese and retired in 2002.  Spanky married the love of his life, Kathy Lorrene (Bailey) Owens, in York, SC on August 24, 1968.  Spanky enjoyed many things in life, he loved to be outdoors to hunt, fish, and golf. Spanky was of the Baptist and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Concord, NC.

Spanky is survived by his loving wife Kathy Lorrene Owens, a son “Mikey” Owens, a daughter Lisa Owens Wishon (Jerry Boger Jr.), and two sisters in law Mary Cook and Charlene Helmstetler.  Spanky is also survived by a grandson Matthew David Wishon, a great granddaughter Savannah Elise Wishon, and a niece Sherry Owens Morris.

A visitation for Spanky will be held on Tuesday January 12, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.  A funeral service for Spanky will be held on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at 1: 30 pm also located at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.  The service will be officiated by Pastor Roger Bostic.  Spanky will be laid to rest at Legion Memorial Park.
