Von Caswell Shelton, 87, of Mocksville, North Carolina died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
Mr. Shelton was retired from Shelton Construction Company and was a proud soldier in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
The son of the late Joseph and Johnsie Shelton, he was born on January 20, 1932, in Davie County. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Madeline Boger Shelton; his children, Cindy McLean (Bart) of Atlanta, Georgia; Sandra Shelton of Mocksville; Dawn Shelton of Mocksville; Ken Shelton (Loye) of Advance; Grandchildren, Kara Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; Jordan McLean of Atlanta, Georgia; Jana Hughes of Charlotte, NC; Amanda Hughes of Winston-Salem; Ryan Shelton of Chapel Hill, NC and Parker Shelton of Advance. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Shelton (Peggy) of Mocksville.
The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Paul of Duke Medical Center for his wonderful care of Mr. Shelton and also to all the dedicated nurses and doctors of the W. G. Bill Hefner VA Hospital and Liberty Hospice in Salisbury, North Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC) at 11:00 AM Friday, February 22, officiated by Dr. Glenn L. Myers, Jr., Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Mocksville, with Military Honors to be accorded by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honors Team.
