Tony Ray Steele

Tony Ray Steele, 71, of Mocksville, NC entered his heavenly home on June 8, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC

Tony was born July 12, 1948, in Rowan County NC, to the late Henry Clay Steele and Nellie Steele Baily.

In life Tony graduated from Davie County High School and went own to join the United States Navy and then was with the Virginia Police Department where he retired after 27 half years. Tony was a very active member of Liberty United Methodist Church of Mocksville NC. He was in the church choir and taught Sunday school. He also played an instrumental role in the Weekend Backpack Program.  He was also very active in many other committees such as Cooleemee Community Food Pantry and Cooleemee Historic Association.

Tony is survived by his brother Jimmy Clay Steele (Tiny) of Woodleaf NC, two nieces Lynn Kearns (Tracy) of Gold Hill NC and Pam Woodward of Woodleaf NC. Grand nephews and niece.  He also loved his extended family of Norfolk VA.

A memorial service will be held by the family on July 19, 2020 at the home of his brother Jimmy Steele.
