Terry Conrad Draughn

Terry Conrad Draughn, 77, of Jonesville, NC, entered his heavenly home on October 24, 2020 at the Woltz Hospice House in Surry County.

Terry was born in Elkin, NC on October 23, 1943, son of the late Richard D. Draughn and Minnie Pruitt Draughn.  In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by a sister Lorene Houck and brothers Richard Draughn Jr. and Keith Draughn.

In life Terry graduated from Jonesville High School in Jonesville, NC.  He was a store clerk for Combs Butcher Shop for 16 years.  Terry was of the Baptist faith and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

Terry is survived by his daughter Shelia Zendgraft (Chris) and two grandchildren Wesley and Carrie Nations of Elkin, NC, a brother Jerry Draughn of Jonesville, NC, a niece Patricia Draughn Hall (Monte) of Pilot Mountain.

Terry was a wonderful Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Friend. His laughter and sweet presence will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Although he struggled as many do with his health, he made the best of each day through laughter and showing love to others. He enjoyed golf in his earlier years, and later in life found a wonderful group of friends at the Jonesville Senior Center. There he enjoyed food and fellowship, games and activities with them. He was a renowned checkers player and was tough to beat! Terry was always able to tell a joke, give great advice, laugh at himself, and help others as best he could. His faith was evident in word and deed, and his family is assured that he is now resting peacefully in God’s presence.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday November 1, 2020 at Elkin First Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Reece will officiate. There will be an open forum for those who wish to share. Church guidelines stipulate mandatory wearing of masks and social distancing inside the sanctuary. Safety and the prevention of the spread of COVID was a priority for Terry, and the family kindly requests adherence to these safety measures. Additionally, the service will be streamed live on the church’s Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Mountain Valley Hospice, or the Jonesville Senior Center.
