Richard A. Householder, 82, of Mocksville, North Carolina, passed away at Kate B Reynolds Hospice House, in Winston Salem, on Monday, March 25, 2024, after a lingering illness.
Born May 21, 1941, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late H. Wayne and Elizabeth Householder.
He was a graduate of Gateway Technical Institute of Pittsburgh, PA and retired from Cutler Hammer Eaton (formerly Westinghouse) after 37 years of service. While living in Pennsylvania he was a member of the former St Mary’s Catholic Church, where he was very active on the Church Council, Usher, and the Angel Fund Scholarship Committee. Shortly after retirement he moved to North Carolina and became a member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Mocksville, where he became a member of the Knights of Columbus with 4th Degree Honor Guard. He loved fishing, golfing, gardening, and traveling.
He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of over 60 years, Sandra Shoaf Householder; daughter, Kimberly Meisner (Stephen Torrence) of Lexington, NC; Richard Jr (Patti) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Austin Householder, Kayla Meisner, Shayne Householder, and Sean Meisner; brothers, Raymond (Diane) of Florida, James (Jennifer) of Pennsylvania, David of Pennsylvania; sister, Mary Lu McCormick of Georgia and sister in law, Marjorie Householder of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Householder and brother in law, Robert McCormick.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 31, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Davie Funeral Service Chapel and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 11:00am at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
The family expresses their thankfulness to Trellis Supportive Care at Kate B Reynolds Hospice House and to his private caregiver, Dusky for all the care and love that he received.
