Peggy Jean (Greenawalt) Whisenhunt, 70, of Mocksville, NC departed this world on September 19, 2021 from Maple Leaf Health Care in Iredell County.
Peggy was born on October 12, 1950 in Washington County, PA. She was the daughter of the late George Russell Greenawalt and Althea Pearl (Shaffer) Greenawalt. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Robert Whisenhunt, her sister Carol, and her brother Roger.
In life, Peggy attended Pennsylvania schools and graduated from Bethlehem High School. Later, she became a child care provider, with the CAP program at Novant Health until she retired. Peggy married the love of her life, Robert Westley Whisenhunt, together they raised two daughters. Peggy was a family woman, she loved her soap operas, sewing, sitting on the porch, and she loved doing whatever she could for her grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory; two beautiful daughters, Althea Latham of Georgia and Nancy Snow of Mocksville, brothers Russell Greenawalt of Pensacola, FL and Jerry Greenawalt of Fredericksburg, PA, and sisters, Sylvia Collier of King, NC, Sue Galbreath of Pittsburg, PA, and Nancy Lawry of Marianna, PA. Also, surviving Peggy are several nieces and nephews and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Furches, of Douglas, GA. Westley Snow and Alyssa Snow , of Mocksville, NC.
A visitation for Peggy will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville. A graveside service for Peggy will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 starting at 10:00 am at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tim Moose.
