Nettie Blevins Obituary

   Nettie Lee (Daywalt) Blevins, 88, of Mocksville, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior from Davie Medical Center on February 8, 2022.

   Nettie Lee (Aunt Gigi), as she was so lovingly known, was born on September 10, 1933, in Davie County.  She was the daughter of the late Arthur D. Daywalt and Lena (Seamon) Daywalt.  In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie James Blevins, a brother, Arthur Roy Daywalt, and one great granddaughter, Ali Reavis.

   In life, Nettie graduated from Cool Springs School and Salisbury Tech where she earned a degree.  She pursued a career in the healthcare field as an LPN. During her nursing career she was employed by Autumn Care of Mocksville as a nurse and then transferred to the position of the facility Administrator for many years, VA Salisbury, Brian Center of Statesville, Iredell Memorial Hospital, and Davie County Home Health.  Nettie retired in 2005.  She met and married the love of her life, Jessie James Blevins in December of 1988.  Nettie was a Christian woman and was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an excellent baker and made the very best pound cakes. She loved to crochet, read her Bible and The Upper Room daily, and was always donating her time and hard work to several different organizations including meals on wheels and the local hospice house.

   Nettie leaves behind to cherish her memory; her son, Jimmy Lee Broadway of Lexington, step-sons, Johnny Blevins, Ivan Blevins and Chester Blevins, a daughter, Crystal Broadway Fox (Robbie) of Mocksville, step-daughters, Frances Watters, Fredia Mann, Maxine Sparks, Pansy Mann, and Geraldine Farley, a brother, David J. Daywalt of Mocksville, a sister, Ardella D. Phillips of Mocksville, grandchildren, Courtney Reavis (James), and Christopher Campbell, great-grandchildren, Ava and Kai Reavis, a cousin, Sue Rupon, nieces, Vickie Wentz-Chandler, Susan Miller, Kathy Daywalt, Rebekah Keener, nephews, Tony Phillips, Jerry Phillips, John Phillips and William Daywalt, a large host of step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, and special friends, Collen Ball and Betty Jo Laymon.

   Visitation for Nettie is scheduled for Saturday, February 12, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.  A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, also at Davie Funeral Service.  Pastor Chip Webb will officiate the service. Nettie will be laid to rest in Union Chapel United Methodist Cemetery.
