Mary Blanche (McCollum) Lawson

   Mary Blanche (McCollum) Lawson, age 93 of Advance, North Carolina departed this world on June 15, 2023, from her home in Davie County.

   Mary was born on August 20, 1929, in Anderson, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Adolphus McCollum and Hattie Jane (Vickery) McCollum.  In addition to her mother and father, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Daniel Lawson, a son William Burgess and daughter in law Becky Burgess, brothers Edward McCollum, Billy McCollum, and Charles McCollum, a sister Virginia Coker, a son in law Lanny Rice, and a great grandson Jacob Berrier.

   In life, Mary graduated from Hanna High School, later she chose a career in the textile industry where she worked for over 25 years.  Mary was of the Methodist faith and a member of Fulton United Methodist Church; she was also a member of the woman’s club.

   Mary leaves behind to treasure her memory, three sons Danny Lawson (Tammy) of Advance, Wayne Burgess (Alice) of Westfield, NC, and Gary Burgess (Teresa) of Advance, two daughters Diane Rice of Winston-Salem, NC, and Janet Caudle (Jeff) of Lexington, NC, a sister Frankie Cain of Hartwell, GA, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

   On Tuesday, June 20, a visitation for Mary will be held at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  On Wednesday, June 21, a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at Fulton United Methodist Church.  Mary will be laid to rest in Fulton United Methodist Church Cemetery.
