Mary Lou (Burcham) Barton

   Mary Lou (Burcham) Barton, age 65 of Rural Hall, North Carolina departed this world on July 25, 2023.

   Mary was born on December 26, 1957, in Forsyth County, NC.  She was the daughter of the late Charlie Arvil Burcham and Ozeal (Jolly) Burcham.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister Judy Carol Sweat, brother Jerry Lee Burcham, and committed partner Ricky Byrd.

   In life, Mary chose a career in healthcare where she was a nursing assistant.  She worked for Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for 8 years before retiring.  Mary was a Christian and attended Union Grove Christian Church.  She enjoyed so many things in life, like reading and crossword puzzles, horseback riding at Love Valley and getting her nails done, to gardening and butterflies.  

   Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son Michael Lee Barton (Nia) of Mocksville, a daughter Julie M. Burcham (Billy) of Winston-Salem, two sisters Patricia Ann Gallimore of Winston-Salem, and Sandra L. Clark (Trenton) of Walnut Cove, five grandchildren Cheyanne, Cierra, Honor, Charish, Stetson, and Ronnie “Sug” Barton her significant other and wonderful caretaker.

   On Saturday, July 29, a visitation and memorial service will be held at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville with the visitation beginning at 2:00 pm and the memorial service at 3:30 pm.  Pastor John Powell will officiate the service.
