Marlene Marie (Ranson) Hampton, 64, of Mocksville, NC, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at Novant Medical Center in Forsyth County on August 23, 2021
Marlene was born on September 6, 1956 in Cabarrus County, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Arthur Ranson and the late Wandaline Marie (Witherspoon) Ranson. In addition to her parents, Marlene is preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Hopkins.
In life, Marlene attended Cabarrus County Schools, she earned an Associate’s degree and became a teacher. Marlene worked as a teacher for both Kannapolis City Schools and the Davie County School system for 20 plus years until her retirement in 2018. She had a gift for teaching children and touched many lives throughout her teaching career. She was admired by her fellow colleagues for her ability to connect with children and her skill in teaching children to read. At 16 years old, Marlene gave her life to the Lord and had been a faithful follower of Christ her entire life. Marlene was not ashamed of her faith and showed great love to her friends and family in Christ-like ways. In 1977, Marlene married the love of her life, Perry Lloyd Hampton in Greenville County, SC. Marlene attended church at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Mocksville. Some of the things Marlene enjoyed was arts and crafts and visiting the mountains of Gatlinburg TN. She also loved spending time with her family, especially during the later years of her life.
Marlene leaves behind to cherish her memory. her loving husband, Perry Hampton of Mocksville, a son, Cody Hampton (Katlynn) of Greenville, NC, daughters, Kerry Gunner (Brad) of China Grove, NC, Kelly Poteat (John) of Kannapolis, NC. Also, surviving Marlene are her grandchildren, Micah and Chloe Gunner, Jonathon, Joshua, and Jordan Poteat, and 2 great grandchildren who will all miss her greatly.
A visitation for Marlene will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville. On Friday, August 27, 2021 a funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Greg McEwen. Marlene will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery.
