Linda Carol (Putnam) Garland

   Linda Putnam Garland, age 77, of Mocksville, NC, met her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. 

   Linda—known as “Granny” by many—was born on February 3, 1945, in Greenville County, SC, and was the second child of the late William A. Putnam and Madolyn Gore Putnam.

   Linda was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Greenville and went on to receive a degree in nursing from Greenville Tech.  Linda’s passion and drive for nursing was exemplified by attaining Who’s Who Among Technical Students in 1976 at Greenville School of Technology.  Many of Linda’s patients became life-long friends over the years she worked in the Greenville hospital systems, elder care facilities, and Milliken plants.  After retiring, Linda and family resided in Mocksville NC, where she spent her days being a grandmother and friend to many.  Linda and her husband Gene recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in April. 

   Linda’s passions were well-known by family and friends for fishing, gardening, painting, cooking for her family and watching her children and grandchildren compete in sporting events.  She enjoyed nothing more than going to the lake with family to catch a mess of fish for cooking a feast. 

   Linda is survived by her husband Gene Garland of Mocksville, NC; a son, Stephen Garland (Katherine) of Spartanburg, SC; three daughters, Stephanie Garland (Ron Ramella) of Greenville, SC, Stacie Helms (Wayne) of Easley, SC, and Gina Suzanne Garland, of Mocksville, NC.  She is also survived by two brothers, Grover and Michael, four sisters, Patricia Putnam, Denise Douglas, Lisa Harris, and Ginger Pop; nine grandchildren; Hunter Sales, Harrison Sales, Hannah Sales, Hayes Sales, Miranda Brown, Madolyn McKinney, Ashlie Swengel, Chuck Gosnell, and James Garland; two great grandchildren, Sara and Briar; two great nieces, Julia and Ella; and one great nephew William.

   A celebration of life for Linda will be held in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary located at 309 Fernwood Drive in Spartanburg, SC, at 12 Noon on Saturday April 30, 2022.  Following the service, the family and friends will gather to continue the celebration of life, share past experiences, and a meal in the Fellowship Hall.  Visitation and a time for remembering will be after the service.
