Johnny Newton Lowery, Jr., age 83 of Mocksville, North Carolina departed this world on October 8, 2023.
Johnny was born on December 27, 1939, in Davie County, NC. He was the son of the late Johnny Newton Lowery, Sr. and Ruby (Bracken) Lowery. In addition to his mother and father, Johnny was preceded in death by his daughter Memory Lowery and his sister Shirley Lowery Wheeler.
In life, Johnny honored our country and served in the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard. Later, he graduated from Appalachian State College then chose a career in sheet metal fabrication where he worked with Ingersol-Rand for many years, until he retired. Johnny was of the Baptist faith and a member of Eaton Baptist Church. Johnny loved antique cars, his baby dog, flying his piper cub airplane, and Davie County history. Johnny leaves behind to treasure his memory, a son Dustin Lowery (Heather) of Mocksville, a brother Grover Lowery (Cindy) of Madison, NC, three sisters Alice Zalascek of Mocksville, Reba Lawter of Mocksville, and Kaye Long of Chadwick, GA, six grandchildren Katelyn Finney (Zach), Austin Lowery, Chloe Sammons, Christina Sammons, Anna Lowery, and Jamie Darby, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his dog “Beauty”, and all of his breakfast buddies.
On Thursday, October 12, a visitation, and funeral service will be held at Eaton Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 4:00 pm and the funeral service beginning at 5:30 pm. Pastor David Gilbreath will officiate the service. Johnny will be laid to rest in Eaton Baptist Church Cemetery.
