John Dennis Howell

   John Dennis Howell, age 69 of Boonville, NC departed this world on November 18, 2022.

   John was born on May 3, 1953, in Yadkin County, NC.  He was the son of Helen Elizabeth (Wooten) Howell and the late John Benjamin Howell.  In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his sons Drew and Davis Howell.

   In life, John attended school in Yadkin County.  He graduated from Forbush High school.  Later, John chose a career in the textile industry where he worked doing machine maintenance.  He worked with UNIFI for 20 + years until he retired in 2018.  In 1974 John married his wife Rita Kay (Cook) Howell in Ararat, VA.  John was a member of Boonville United Methodist Church.  In his spare time John enjoyed fishing, cars, and racing of any kind including drag racing and NASCAR.

   John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Rita Howell of Boonville, a son Ben Howell, three brothers Doug Howell (Elaine), Danny Howell (Deana), and Derrick Howell (Cindy), and two grandchildren Payton Howell and Titus Wilmoth.

   On Sunday, November 20, a memorial service will be held at Boonville United Methodist Church and begin at 4:00 pm.  Pastor Julie Wilburn will officiate the service.
