Frederick O'Neal Gaither

Frederick O’Neal Gaither, 81, of Mocksville, NC, entered his heavenly home on November 16, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Frederick was born in Davie County, NC on September 4, 1939.  He was the son of the late Tom Gaither and Betty Marie (Booe) March.  In addition to his parents, Frederick is preceded in death by brothers Michael Gaither and Bernard Gaither, also a sister Carole Gaither.

In life Frederick attended school in both Davie County and Salisbury.  He also attended college classes at Livingstone College.  In 1974 Frederick married his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy Mae (Sullivan) Gaither.  Frederick honored his family and his country by serving 23 years in the United States Army.  Outside of his Army days, Frederick was a CNA 3 and worked in Salisbury, VA.  Frederick was a good Christian man, he was a member of St. John AME Zion Church.  He loved his grandchildren, playing the saxophone, and spending time with his family and friends.

Frederick leaves behind, his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Mae Gaither of Mocksville, 3 daughters Patricia Young, LaV’onya Gaither, and Tanganyika Gaither all of Mocksville, 4 brothers Reginald Gaither, Victor Gaither, Julian Gaither, and Gordon Gaither, 3 sisters Thomasina Gaither, Doris Jimerson, and Debbie Ellis, grandchildren SaTonia Gray, Tevin Gaither, CJ Heiner, Terrell Joyner, Quientin Joyner, Dejah Joyner, Cory Heiner, Colby Heiner, Joshua Collins and Jamie Gray, great grandchildren London, Envee, Addison, Rayshaun, Zaydn, Shakyra, Ariah and Serenity.

A service for Frederick will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday November 30, 2020 at the Salisbury National Service Atrium.  The service will be officiated by Pastor Rodney Barker.  Frederick will be laid in his final resting place at Salisbury National Cemetery.
