Mr. Franklin Nathaniel Ijames, 83, of Mocksville, transitioned to his new home on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Novant Health, following a brief period of illness.
Franklin, affectionally known as Frank, was born on June 8, 1938, in Davie County to the late Wesley Roosevelt and Ira Wilson Ijames. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvis Thomas Ijames, Claude Calvin Ijames, and sister, Ruth Faye Sales.
Frank grew up in Davie County and attended Davie County schools. He was a multi-talented carpenter and automobile body mechanic. Professionally, he operated Franks Body Shop for over 40 years and worked at Ingersoll-Rand Compressors in Mocksville, NC. Frank was an active member of Mainville A.M.E. Zion Church and served as a member of the Steward and Usher Boards. He enjoyed puzzles, painting cars, restoring cars, and gardening until he was over 80 years old.
Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory, two sons, Paul Hairston of Lexington, and Corey Foote of Mocksville, three daughters, Darlene Easter, Lavonda Foote, and Tamica Maddox, all of Mocksville. His siblings, Betty Naylor, William Ijames, Donald Ijames and John Ijames all of Mocksville. Also, surviving Frank are his seven grandchildren, Tyler Hairston, Shannon White, Chantia Washington, Andrea and Toni Easter, and Zariah and Taye Maddox, and eight great-grandchildren, Kanaia White, Amya, Travell J., Marquis and Anyssa Washington, Owen Martin and Kade and Kiel Adams. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
On Thursday, May 5, a visitation for Frank will be held from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville. Following visitation at 1:00 pm a funeral service will take place, also at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.
