Obituary

Mother Ethel Louise Carter Payne was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (White) Carter and was born in Davie County on March 6th, 1928. She peacefully departed this life on November 11th, 2020 surrounded by her family at her residence. Easy as she was affectionately called was married to Glenn Edward Payne whom precedes her in death.

She is preceded in death by five siblings, Willy Gray Carter, Virginia Mackey, Alfonzo Carter, Charles Preston Carter, and Pearl Carter. Three nephews Jerome, Kevin, and Kelly.

Easy attended Davie County Training School and later retired from Burlington Mills. She was a lifetime and devoted member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the church choir, Missionary circle, hostess board and currently the mother of the church.

Easy loved the Lord she loved studying her Sunday school lesson and listening to her spiritual music. Easy loved putting on her nice church suits, hats and jewelry while heading out to church. She loved shopping, sewing, crocheting, fishing, and spending time with Coco and bringing him back chicken wings.

Left to cherish her memories are nieces Harriet White of the home, Frances (Perry) James of Mocksville and Rosa Allen of Woodleaf. One nephew Melvin (Wanda) Carter of Cooleemee. One special cousin Faye McCoy of Mt. Ulla, and a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be a visitation for Ethel on Saturday November 14, 2020 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.  A funeral service for Ethel will be held on Sunday November 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm located at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.  A private burial for Ethel will take place on Monday at the Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery where Ethel will be laid in her final resting place.
