Dorothy Mae (Sullivan) Gaither, 75, of Mocksville, NC, entered her heavenly home on May 27, 2021 from her residence in Davie County.
Dorothy was born August 5, 1945 in Davie County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Devore Sullivan and the late Ruth (Bohannon) Sullivan. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband Fredrick Gaither and her brothers Devore Sullivan, Jr., and Richard Eugene Sullivan.
In life, Dorothy attended Davie County Schools and attended several churches within her community. Dorothy worked for Drexel Heritage in the furniture industry for 15 years before retiring. She was a spirited woman who loved sports, loved to dance and listen to old school music, but most of all she loved to be with her family.
Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory; daughters Patricia Young of Mocksville, LaVonya Leach (John) of Mocksville, Tanganyika Gaither of Mocksville, brothers, Marvin Sullivan (Genesta), Richard Eugene Sullivan, sisters Geneva Spease (Leroy), Kathy Transou, and a sister-in-law Nora Ann Sullivan. Also, surviving Dorothy are her grandchildren; Joshua and Jamie Young, SaTonia, Terrell, Quintan, and Dejah Joyner, Tevin Gaither, Chad, Cory and Colby Heiner, Envee, London, and seven great grandchildren.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at New Jerusalem Apostolic Church, a funeral service will follow visitation at 2:00 pm at New Jerusalem Apostolic Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rodney Barker. A hospitality gathering for the family will be held at the Center Community Building after services.
