Donald William Carrick, Sr.

   Donald William Carrick, Sr., departed this world on June 7, 2023, from Davie Nursing and Rehab in Davie County.

   Donald was born on November 17, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was the son of the late Howard Melvin Carrick and Anna Carrick.  In addition to his mother and father, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn (Ferguson) Carrick, a brother Buddy Swank and three sisters Geraldine C. Zepp, Louise Barford, and Jeannie Paulston.

   In life Donald attended school in Maryland.  Later, he chose a career in the automotive industry where he was a mechanic for many years until he retired in 2010.  Donald attended church at Seventh Day Adventist and when he was able, he really enjoyed hunting and fishing.

   Donald leaves behind to treasure his memory, two sons Donald William Carrick, Jr. and David Lee Carrick, Sr. (Janet) a daughter Donna Carrick Walp (Bunky), a brother Howard Carrick, a special nephew Robb Zepp, grandchildren Michael and William Beaver, Nicole Walp, Michael Kara Keeton, Kristen Laprade, David Lee Carrick, Jr., Dakota McClamrock, Sierra Merritt, Nicole Ranken, Brieana Carrick, Jaxon Brogan, and a host of great grandchildren.

   On Monday, June 12, a visitation for Donald will be held at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  On Tuesday, June 13, Pastor Phil Roberts will officiate a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at Seventh Day Adventist.  Donald will be laid to rest in Westlawn Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
