Billy Louie Doby

   Billy Louie Doby, age 84 of Mocksville, North Carolina passed away on September 7, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

   Billy was born on February 12, 1939, to the late Louie Coe and Nellie Bertha Hall Doby.  In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean Doby; several brothers and sisters and two special sons-in-law, Ned Barnes and Michael Traphofner.

   Billy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a Greens Keeper for numerous golf courses for over 50 years, retiring from Bermuda Run Golf Course.

   Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty Doby; his step children, Jamie Snow (Tammy), Diane Traphofner, Patricia Barnes and Gail Snow; a sister, Ruby Bingham (William); step-grandchildren, Bryan, Nicole, Brittany, Jennie, Dalton and Abby; a special friend, Donald “Dink” Smith and his special “buddy” Joey.

   Funeral service will be held Monday, September 11, 2023, at 4:00pm at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville, with Pastor Joel Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4 Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

   The family would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” to Janna, Billy’s hospice nurse.
