Texola Miller Tucker, 83, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Davie County on December 21, 1934, and was the last surviving child of the late William and Susie Coy Lawrence Miller. Texola was the widow of the late James William Tucker and they had been married for almost 66 years at the time of his passing on November 3, 2016. Others preceding her in death were her brothers, Doyle and Cletus Miller, and sisters Mertus Barnes, Edna Angell and Lathel Combs.
She attended Cooleemee Schools and retired after 30 years of service with Celanese Corporation where she worked as an engineer/train driver. She was a long-time member of Edgewood Baptist Church, and the family requests memorials be directed to the church at PO Box 57, Cooleemee, NC 27014.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Peggy Presnell (Larry) and Gale Jones (Henry), all of Mocksville; one son, Clay Tucker (Elaine) of Rock Hill, SC; plus six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 15, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Davie Funeral Chapel in Mocksville. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 16, at Edgewood Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
