Shirley Gwyn (Wood) Shepherd

Shirley Gwyn Shepherd (Wood), 71, of Cooleemee, passed away on April 20, 2019 while under the care of the Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.

Shirley was born on February 13, 1948 in Surry County, a daughter to the late William C. Wood and Ada Viola Vanhoy. She attended and graduated from Davie High School in 1966 and later she married Lee Shepherd. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Pamela C. Jarvis Jordan, her brother Glenn Wood, her sisters Evelyn B. Money, Sarah “Peggy” Fletcher, Betty Head and Joan Garris.

In life, Shirley worked as an activity director in the healthcare industry. She was a faithful member of the Cooleemee Church of God as well. Shirley is survived by her 3 grandchildren; Dustin, Daniel and Dakotoa Jordan, all of Cooleemee.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel at 416 Valley Road in Mocksville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 2:00 PM at the Cooleemee Church of God with Pastor Bruce Harry officiating. Interment will follow at the Legion Memorial Park Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville.
