Patricia Gayle "Susie" Smith

Patricia Gayle “Susie” Smith, 68, of Advance, lost her battle with lymphoma on Monday, September 23, 2019 at her home. She will be missed by many.

Susie was born December 7, 1950 in Union County, SC, a daughter to the late J.D. Smith and Lillian Ferol Oglitree Smith. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her beloved step-mother Maggie Smith Shook and her brothers John, Robert “Hoppy” and Terry Smith.

In life, Susie was a joyful soul. She loved music, singing and being around people, especially her family. She attended Victory Baptist Church and also attended Camp Manna. She is survived by a large and loving family, including her brothers James “Fisher” Smith (Melanie) and David Smith, both of Green Cove Springs, Florida. She is also survived by her caregivers and nieces Jenny Rosier (Tad) and Melissa Smith, as well as other family members including Tammy Lagle (Gene), Clay Smith (Bobbi Jo), Misty Smith, Jim Smith (Wendy), James Robert Smith and Jacob Smith and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28 from 4 – 5 PM at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee. A funeral service will follow immediately at 5:00 PM, also at Victory Baptist Church, with Rev. Shelby Harbor and Stan Riddle officiating. Interment will be held at Gilean Baptist Church in Jonesville, SC at a later date. In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made in Susie's honor to Smart Start of Davie County.
