Mary Ruth Simpson Kimmer, 82, of Mocksville, passed away on June 6, 2019 in Mocksville.

Mary was born February 28, 1937 in Surry County, a daughter to the late Sam W. Simpson and Lula Wood Simpson. She attended and graduated from White Plains High School with the class of 1954. She later married Bill Kimmer. Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents, her son Tony Dale Kimmer, four brothers Raymond William (infant), A. Wayne Simpson, Troy W. Simpson, Harry F. Simpson and a grandson Terry Kimmer Jr.

In life, Mary worked as a seamstress at C.A. Blackwelder for 42 years. She made many dear friends there during her working years. She was a member of the West Yadkin Assembly of God for many years. She loved her church family, especially Mrs. Dorothy Childress, her best friend. Mary enjoyed the Women’s Ministry, especially serving at meetings and preparing great desserts for all the ladies. Mary Ruth loved her Lord and Savior, she loved her family and had many long-time friends. She also loved her Davie Nursing & Rehab family, staff and residents. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening in her flowers and took great pride in her home and yard.

She is survived by a large and loving family, including her husband of 63 years, Bill Kimmer, her son Terry Kimmer Sr. of Mocksville, brother Homer Simpson of Troy, sister JoAnn Brooks of Hamptonville and sister Deborah Whitt of Mocksville, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Davie Funeral Service Chapel in Mocksville from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 9 at the West Yadkin Assembly of God in Hamptonville at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bobby Jenkins officiating. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mary Ruth was a good sister, grandmother and friend to many people. She will be missed but she is well now and in the presence of God. Memorials in Ruth’s honor may be sent to the church.
