James David Robbins, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2018, following a period of declining health. A native of Davie County, he was born May 7, 1950, the son of the late Carl Preston Robbins and Addie Mae Keaton Robbins. He was the widower of the late Freida Mae Myers Robbins who died in 2012 after more than 43 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Angela Robbins and Lynn Doby.
Mr. Robbins attended Davie County Schools and was a member of the N.R.A. After 20 plus years working with farm equipment and tractor repairs, he retired and enjoyed more opportunities for fishing. He also liked to play the guitar and he loved those classic cars.
His surviving family includes three sons, Preston Tyler Robbins and James Michael Robbins, both of Mocksville, and Glenn Sidden of Concord; three daughters, Melissa Carlene Casseday of Charlotte, Tamica Denise Eakins (Ernest) and Amanda Rena Robbins, both of Mocksville; one brother, Johnny Robbins of Mocksville; three sisters, Lillie Hayes of Newton, Peggy Ellison and Minnie Barnett, both of Mocksville; plus 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, at Davie Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Cantrell of Hope Baptist Tabernacle officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 PM.
