Herbert W. Taylor, 83, of Mocksville, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2019. He was born in Hallowell, Maine on August 27, 1935 to Dorothy and William Taylor. He held a special place in his heart for his step-father who raised him, Dan Larrabee.
Herb raised his family in Maine before he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Bradley, WV where Herb attended Appalachian Bible College. He earned his BA in 1985 as an ordained minister. Herb and Barbara moved to New Castle, VA where he spent several years driving trucks before settling in Mocksville, NC. Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Herb was well-known for telling stories, harassing telemarketers, and watching “new” episodes of Gun Smoke. Herb had a very big heart and was always willing to help those in need.
Herb was predeceased by his mother and father, a sister, Polly, and two sons, Herb and Tim.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Taylor; a son and his wife, Ellsworth and Terry Taylor of Pittston, ME; daughter and her significant other, Kimberly Bledsoe and Richard Leonard of Mocksville, NC; daughter-in-law, Gail Taylor of Chelsea, ME; daughter, Olive Morrow of Sacramento, CA; and a sister, Dorothy Bibber of Brooksville, FL.
Herb had 11 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, but had a special relationship with his grandchildren: Kristin Craft, Nicole Sousa, Wesley Taylor, Amber Taylor-Soares, Jackie Bledsoe, and Nila Jean Goodwin. Herb is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren including a set of twins on the way.
