Glenn Miller Obituary

Glenn Edward Miller (77 years) of Garden Valley passed peacefully into the church triumphant on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.

Glenn was born May 30, 1942 in Allentown, PA to the late Frank and Viola Miller.  He lived in Phillipsburg, NJ until he attended Syracuse University for a short time and transferred to N.C. State in Raleigh.  He graduated in 1965 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.  He met his future wife, Doris Gregson, at his cousin’s house in Liberty, NC.  They were married in 1965 and lived in Kinston, NC for two years where he was employed at Dupont.  In the fall of 1967, they moved to Mocksville where he joined Ingersoll Rand as a Senior Development Engineer.  After thirty-five years, he retired and turned his woodworking passion into a second career.  He loved selling his woodworking items like board games and pens at craft shows and also using his lathes to make various hunting calls.  His other hobbies were photography and gardening roses and rhododendrons.

As a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Mocksville he served as president and member of the Administrative Board, the finance committee, the mission committee, and treasurer of Faithful Workers Sunday School class.

Living in Mocksville for fifty years, he served on the Davie County Recreation and Parks committee and also helped with the Davie County Hospital Auxiliary. In addition, he was a member of the Davie Craft Corner where he served as president for many years.

Survivors: wife of 54 years, Doris G. Miller; a daughter, Karen (Mark) Wimmer of Roswell, GA; a son, Greg Miller of Morehead City, NC: two grandchildren, Ryan Wimmer of Raleigh, NC and Ben Wimmer of Tuscaloosa, AL.
