Glenda Stevenson Obituary

Glenda LaShelle “Gege” Stevenson, 30, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at her home in Mocksville after an extended illness. She was born in Forsyth County on September 2, 1988, to Eugenia Laverne Stevenson Ijames, who survives.

“Gege” graduated from Davie County High School with the Class of 2006. She continued her education at Winston-Salem State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 2010. As one who was always seeking more knowledge, she obtained her Master’s Degree from Capella University in 2017, and was in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. Degree. She was also working two jobs…one being a call service representative with Pepsi products and the other as a care aide with Monarch Healthcare. She was a member of Gates of Zion Church in Midway, NC.

“Gege” loved her work and school. Although she had a full schedule, she was always putting others before herself and wanted to make sure everyone was okay and had what they needed.

In addition to her mother, Eugenia, she is survived by two sisters, Jacqueline Stevenson (fiance’ Jesse) of Mocksville and Latrice Stevenson (fiance’ Branden) of Winston-Salem; two nieces, Brianna and Kenadi Stevenson; two nephews, Kaleem Stevenson and Ta’mir Stevenson-Dalton; four aunts: Maxcine Stevenson and Joann Stevenson, both of Mocksville, Phyllis Stevenson of Lexington, and Emma White of Mocksville; a special family, the Camps from South Carolina; her very special friend, Tonya Taylor; her “baby”, Cache (her dog); and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Atlas and Emma Stevenson; two uncles, Allen and Glenn Stevenson; two aunts, Mary Wagner and Alease Hayes; and a special cousin, Nakiesha Wagner.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 3, at Davie Funeral Chapel. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted in the funeral chapel at 11:00 AM Friday, January 4, officiated by Pastor/Overseer Charlene Jones of the New Life Apostolic Church. Interment will follow in the Rose Cemetery in Mocksville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to help offset final expenses be directed to Davie Funeral Service, 416 Valley Road, Mocksville, NC 27028, which is serving the family during this time of need. Condolences may be posted online at www.daviefuneralservice.com.
