Ernest William Mixon, 61, known to his family and friends as “Bubba”, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. His life began in Hartsville, SC, where he was born to the late Ernest and Ola Miller Mixon on April 20, 1957. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Willy Mixon, and two sisters, Betty Freeman and Hattie Sanders.
“Bubba” had a 30-year career with Duke Energy where he served as a foreman with the nuclear waste division. He has also served his Lord as a deacon through membership in Community Baptist Church of Mocksville.
His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sheila Darlene Nichols Mixon of the home; two daughters, Scarlette Mixon of Mocksville and Sherry VanHoose (David) of Salisbury; one brother, Ronald Mixon of Hartsville, SC; ten sisters: Joyce Wallace (Harrison) of Cheraw, SC, Carolyn Sanders, Janice Woods, Marilyn Sanders, Gloria Shoemake (David), Coleen Simmons (Ricky) and Marie Atkinson (Bea), all of Hartsville, and Lisa Talon of Marion, SC, Sue Cope (Mark) of Advance, NC, and Trish Morris of Ripley, WV; plus five grandchildren: Joshua and Jonathan Hampton, and William, Geoffrey and Hali Hutchens.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 6, at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Burchette officiating. The family will receive friends one-half hour prior to the time of service.
